Idea to Asset: The Story Behind RISE Cognitive Blueprint

RISE stands for Recognize, Investigate, Shift, and Evolve.

RISE Cognitive Blueprint® is a science-informed framework that helps people understand the beliefs, thought patterns, behaviors, and habits shaping their lives so they can make more intentional choices and create lasting change.

The framework follows four phases:

Recognize the influences and patterns shaping you.

Investigate how those patterns affect your life today.

Shift the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that no longer serve you.

Evolve through intentional choices and consistent habits.

The first application of the framework is the RISE Curriculum, created specifically for young adults ages 16 to 23.

The curriculum brings together established concepts from psychology, neuroscience, and habit formation in a practical, accessible format. Through short video lessons, guided reflection, and real-life application, students learn to better understand themselves, build confidence, develop healthier habits, and make more intentional decisions.

RISE is designed for flexible implementation within existing youth-development and student-support environments, including:

  • Schools and colleges
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Workforce-readiness programs
  • Mentoring programs
  • Counseling-adjacent support environments

Why Was RISE Created?

RISE grew out of changes I made in my own life.

After years of studying psychology, neuroscience, behavior, and personal development, I began to better understand the beliefs and patterns that had shaped how I saw myself and approached the world. That understanding helped me change my mindset, develop healthier habits, and move through difficult experiences with greater confidence and intention.

I kept thinking about how valuable it would have been to understand these concepts earlier in life.

My first instinct was to share what I had learned with my own young adult children. I wanted to help them develop a stronger understanding of themselves, build confidence from within, and recognize that they had some power over the direction of their lives.

The challenge was finding a way to communicate these ideas that young adults would actually receive.

That led to the original concept: a series of short, accessible videos, each introducing one useful idea and one practical takeaway. The goal was never to lecture young adults or tell them how to live. It was to give them language, tools, and opportunities for reflection so they could decide what was useful and apply it to their own lives.

That initial idea eventually became a complete curriculum with a defined framework, structured modules, guided reflections, practical exercises, facilitator resources, and tools for evaluating student growth.

Why Young Adults?

Young adulthood has always been a period of major transition. Young people are developing their identities, making decisions about education and work, navigating relationships, and beginning to take greater responsibility for their lives.

Today’s young adults are doing that while also navigating constant digital exposure, social comparison, economic uncertainty, lingering effects of the pandemic, and intense pressure to make the right decisions about their futures.

Their challenges should be understood in context.

RISE gives young adults a structured way to step back from those pressures and better understand what is happening within them. It introduces practical concepts related to beliefs, thought patterns, emotional regulation, confidence, and habit formation in language they can connect to everyday life.

RISE is an educational and developmental program. It does not replace therapy or clinical mental-health care. It gives young adults foundational cognitive and behavioral skills that can help them understand themselves and approach their lives with greater awareness and intention.

From an Idea to an Asset

RISE began with a simple question: How can I share these ideas with young adults in a way they will understand and use?

Answering that question required turning years of learning and lived experience into a defined framework, then developing that framework into a structured curriculum that organizations could implement.

That process reflects the work I now do with entrepreneurs and subject-matter experts: identifying the value within an idea or body of expertise, architecting what it can become, and building it into a tangible, marketable asset.
